A quarter of a century ago, some of Marvel’s most popular artists – including ‘Deadpool’ co-creator Rob Liefeld – made a bold decision to go it alone and start a new comics company where they could own the characters they created. Now, new SYFY project ‘The History of Image Comics’ brings the story of that momentous decision to the screen. Featuring interviews with founders including Jim Lee and Spawn creator Todd McFarlane, the documentary follows the new company’s early success and subsequent trials, before moving on to its current imperial phase in which current series such as ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘Outcast’ have grown into multimedia behemoths. And of course, the story is far from over – many more adaptations are already in the works, including SYFY’s own forthcoming ‘Deadly Class’.
