This information is collected in a number of different ways. In some cases it is when members of the media proactively ask Global Listings or our broadcast clients to add them to mailing lists. Our basis for so doing is the Legitimate Interest element of the GDPR legislation and we have conducted and documented a Legitimate Interest Assessment on this basis.
For staff (full time and all others) and language editors, this is provided by the individual to us with their consent and is limited to:
Name, Email and Postal Address, Contact Telephone Number, CV, Subject Areas of Expertise, Language Combinations, Fees
For contacts who wish to be added to our newsletter mailing list and proactively complete the Newsletter sign-up field on the Global Listings websites (i.e. with their consent):
For contacts who complete the Contact Us form on the Global Listings websites (again with their consent):
Name, Company Name, Email Address, Phone Number
How We Use The Information We Collect
For members of the media, we use the business contact data to deliver TV programme information (for example, TV listings schedules, programme highlights information, Electronic Programme Guide files etc) via email. You may choose to opt out of receiving this information at any time by contacting us (details are provided in every such email that we send).
For job applications, we use the information for assessment purposes and – in the case of translators and language editors – we store their details (as listed in the previous section) in our secure database and use it to identify translators’ suitability for specific projects.
For newsletter sign-ups and messages received from the ‘Contact Us’ area of the Global Listings website, we may use your email address to send you newsletters that you have consented to receive, or to respond to your message/query.
We never sell any of the personal data that we store to anyone else.
Legal Basis For Using The Information We Collect
For our TV programme information distribution to the media, our basis for storing the information is the Legitimate Interest element of the GDPR legislation and we have conducted and documented a Legitimate Interest Assessment on this basis.
