Friday, May 25th, 2018

In a unique series, historian Michael Wood will explore the whole of English history through the story of one place – the village of Kibworth in Leicestershire.

The six-part series Michael Wood’s Story of England, which originally aired on BBC Two and BBC Four, comes to PBS America this June, with the first episode premiering 18 June at 9pm BST.

Over the centuries, Kibworth, located in the heart of England, and its residents have survived the Black Death, the Civil War, the Industrial Revolution and bombing in World War Two. Using archaeology, language and DNA, Wood uncovers the village’s long history with the help of the village’s current residents.

Bringing to life the Norman occupation, the time of the plague, revolts against Tudor rule, the Industrial Revolution, and even the return of soldiers from the Second World War, Michael Wood and the people of Kibworth bring to life a fascinating journey through time.

PBS America is available on Freeview 94, Freesat 155, Virgin Media 276 and Sky 160.
