PBS AMERICA EXPLORES HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND RACE RELATIONS IN AMERICA

Friday, June 29th, 2018

PBS America, the UK-based arm of American Public Broadcasting Service, is taking a close look at several difficult issues in US history with new programmes airing this July.

Premiering on Thursday 12 July at 9pm is documentary Tell Them We Are Rising which explores the little-known history behind Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Directed by Stanley Nelson (Black Panthers, Freedom Riders) and Marco Williams, the film charts the evolution of these institutions and looks at questions around their continued relevance in a post-segregated society.

Another UK premiere, Trafficked in America (Friday 13 July at 9pm), tells the story of a group of Guatemalan teenagers who were forced to work against their will at an egg farm in Ohio. This FRONTLINE documentary reveals how America’s immigration systems and underlying economic pressures are contributing to the abuse of young workers.

PBS America is available on Freeview 94, Freesat 155, Virgin Media 276 and Sky 160.

What the industry says about US

TT Spektra, Sweden

We use both the Global Listings press schedules (in Word) and their XML files. The programme descriptions are rather good and not too long, which is helpful. We use their text verbatim and import it direct into our database.

The TV schedules that we receive from Global Listings are very useful and fulfil the purpose they are meant to. We publish listings on our TV Guide pages, so we use the schedules daily and have absolutely no complaints. We are also very happy with your press service and communications in general.
