The People’s Republic of Algeria is a land of contrasting landscapes, from idyllic Mediterranean coastal towns and villages to the stark majesty of the Sahara desert.

This series of three epic travelogues seeks to illuminate one of the world’s lesser-known travel destinations, whose complex culture and rich history remain mysterious to many.

The mighty Aures mountains and the vibrant urban centres of Algiers, Constantine, Tlemcen and Oran are among the wealth of attractions this North African nation offers the visitor. Also glimpsed along the way are the many treasures of antiquity to be found in the Berber kingdom of Batna and the Roman towns of Tipaza and Timgad.
