Consistent Series IDs

Every episode of the same series must carry the same Series ID. If a data supplier assigns a different Series ID to episodes from different seasons, or changes a Series ID mid-series, the linking chain is broken — the platform cannot recognise the episodes as related.

Closing the Chain at Season End

When a season concludes, the series-link chain must be formally closed — indicating to the platform that no more episodes follow. The Operational Demands of Series Linking at Scale
