FX Reunites True Detective’s Pizzolato And McConaughey

Thursday, February 6th, 2020

True Detective creator Nic Pizzolato has signed a production deal with Fox 21 Productions and FX Productions. The latter has also done a first-look deal with Matthew McConaughey, who starred in the anthology series’ first run. And tying all of that in a neat bow, the pair will be working together on a new FX series.

Redeemer, based on Patrick Coleman’s novel The Churchgoer, will star McConaughey as a Texan minister turned security guard, and one far less saintly than his former career might suggest. As with True Detective, the story begins with a missing woman and sees past and present collide and corruption’s tendrils everywhere.
