Mike Schur, responsible for creating hit sitcoms Parks and Recreation, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Good Place, has extended his long-running writing and production deal with NBC. He’s been associated with the network since the 1990s, when he began writing for their comedy institution Saturday Night Live.
Unsurprisingly, given his track record of both commercial and critical success, industry rumour had suggested approaches from a number of other contenders for his hand. But Schur cited the support and freedom he’d received from NBC, adding “There’s a ton of stuff in my office, just like boxes of papers and decorative candles and junk, and it would be super-annoying to have to move it all”.
