PBS Looks To The Skies

Saturday, November 21st, 2020

Discover the night skies as our ancestors saw them, as three-part series Ancient Skies (starting Monday 23 November at 7.20pm) journeys through past visions of the heavens from across the world to chart our changing views of the cosmos throughout history.

From hunter-gatherers, Babylonians and Mayans to Edwin Powell Hubble, discover the different ways that we have observed and chronicled the movements of the heavens, and the science behind the phenomena that our ancestors sought to explain through mythology.

From the dawn of civilisation to the recent past, international experts, historians and astronomers, along with cutting-edge CGI, beautiful landscape footage and important astronomical artefacts, demonstrate our ever-evolving understanding of our universe and our place in the cosmos.
