It’s an iconic photo: eleven men sit on a steel beam high above Manhattan, relaxed and enjoying a meal in the most unlikely of settings. But what is the story behind the world-famous ‘Lunch Atop a Skyscraper’? Director Seán Ó Cualáin investigates in fact-finding documentary Men At Lunch (Wednesday 29th, 9pm), narrated by Fionnula Flanagan. Who were the men in the photograph, and how did the picture come to be taken?

Discover Manhattan during the Depression, and the role of Irish immigrants in constructing the city’s famous skyline. Journey to the top of the Rockefeller Center with archival footage and photographs, first-person interviews with experts and relatives, and the photographers who captured this formative era in New York’s history.
