Ridley Scott’s brilliant biographical crime drama AMERICAN GANGSTER (Saturday 21st, 9pm) follows the criminal career of Harlem kingpin Frank Lucas (Denzel Washington) as he establishes his heroin smuggling operation into the United States, using American service planes returning from the
Vietnam War in the 1970s.
What Lucas hadn’t counted on is that incorruptible detective Richie Roberts (Russell Crowe) will do anything to bring him to justice and tear his drug empire down. The gripping film also co-stars Idris Elba, Josh Brolin, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Norman Reedus.
