The Viking Age began with the 793 attack on Lindisfarne, leading to raids across England, Francia, and the Byzantine Empire. Expanding west, the Vikings discovered Iceland, Greenland, and North America. Their influence peaked under Harald Bluetooth, but ended with the Norman conquest in 1066.
