In the aftermath of the Civil War, Union Colonel Cord McNally is contacted by two former Confederates who inform him that Ketcham, the traitor who had sold information to the enemy during the war, is now terrorising the town of Rio Lobo. With their help, McNally sets out to settle old scores and save the town. Howard Hawks and John Wayne’s follow-up to Rio Bravo and El Dorado features Highway to Heaven’s Victor French as the villain.
