An archipelago of 7,000 tropical islands scattered in the Pacific, the Philippines has a greater variety of life per square mile than any other country. A land of contrasts, where calm tropical seas meet active volcanoes, half of its 52,000 species are found nowhere else on Earth.
Now, presenter Nigel Marven is exploring its ancient rainforests, pristine coasts and coral reefs as cutting-edge technology, state-of-the-art drones and ultra-hi-speed cameras capture the amazing wildlife, including many of the country’s creatures that have never been caught on camera before.
From endangered eagles to multi-coloured pit vipers, deadly thresher sharks, juvenile Phillippine crocs, flamboyant cuttlefish and the extraordinary coconut octopus, meet some of the world’s most wonderful creatures – in Wild Philippines, from Monday 16th to Wednesday 18th September on PBS America.
