With no sign of a let-up in viewers’ appetite for dramas about the emergency services, it should come as no surprise that Fox has renewed Ryan Murphy-created first responder series 9-1-1, starring Angela Bassett, Golden Globe nominee Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Peter Krause.

Also getting a third season will be medical drama The Resident, which stars Matt Czuchry as charismatic maverick doctor Conrad Hawkins. Both shows began as mid-season replacements before seeing their episode orders upped for their second runs.
