Several big names have been announced for the forthcoming FX historical drama Mrs America. It was already known to star Cate Blanchett as Phyllis Schlafly, a key player in the backlash against the passing of the USA’s Equal Rights Amendment.

Joining her will now be Uzo Aduba (Orange is the New Black) as Shirley Chisholm, the first African American Congresswoman; Rose Byrne (Damages) as feminist Gloria Steinem; Melanie Lynskey (Heavenly Creatures) as Schlafley associate Rosemary Thomson; James Marsden (Westworld) as conservative politician Phil Crane; and John Slattery (Mad Men) as Phyllis’ husband Fred. Additionally, the first two episodes will be directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, who previously helmed Captain Marvel.
