THOSE MAGNIFICENT MEN IN THEIR FLYING MACHINES (1965) Great Movies Classic
SATURDAY 11TH JUNE AT 2.20PM
“With their up-diddly-up up…” This goofy film’s famous theme song and fun flying machines make it a winning watch!
Featuring an international ensemble cast including Stuart Whitman, Sarah Miles, Robert Morley, Terry-Thomas, James Fox, Benny Hill, Jean-Pierre Cassel and Gert Fröbe, the zany film is set during the craze of early aviation.
In 1910, newspaper mogul Lord Rawnsley (Morley) decides to offer a large cash prize to the first pilot to successfully fly over the English Channel.
Aviation whizzes enter the race, including the deceitful Percy Ware-Armitage (Terry-Thomas), wild American flyer Orvil Newton (Whitman) and British ace Richard Mays (Fox).
Orvil and Richard emerge as the front-runners, but both men soon fall head-over-heels for Rawnsley’s beautiful daughter, Patricia (Miles).
It’s all magnificent fun!
