To celebrate silver screen legend Michael Caine turning 89 tomorrow, GREAT! movies classic airs a full day showcasing some of his memorable roles in a host of brilliant films.
Caine stars as British secret agent Harry Palmer in Midnight in St Petersburg. Former British secret agent Palmer runs a private investigation company in Russia. He gets a job to find and retrieve a consignment of stolen Plutonium, and with the help of colleague Nikolai Petrov, played by Jason Connery, he sets off to St. Petersburg but Along the way he must deal with the violent Russian Mafia.
Caine stars in classic comedy caper, Gambit. Harry Dean is a career burglar set on stealing a piece of priceless art from the world’s wealthiest man. With the help of showgirl Nicole Chang, played by Shirley MacLaine, he concocts the perfect robbery – or so he thinks!
Funeral In Berlin stars Caine return as British secret agent Harry Palmer. Set in a 60’s Berlin divided by cold war lines, Agent Palmer is sent to meet a prominent senior Soviet officer along the border of East Berlin and arrange his defection. Palmer soon discovers a network of complex betrayal, double crosses and buried secrets being played out around the Berlin Wall.
