Friday, March 9th, 2018

The second season of National Geographic’s Emmy-nominated series Genius will focus on revolutionary surrealist artist, Pablo Picasso, the network has announced.

With a career that spanned 80 years, the prolific artist created over 50,000 works of art as he strove to push the boundaries of artistic expression. The ten-episode series from executive producers Brian Grazer and Ron Howard will look into Picasso’s personal life and the genius behind the eclectic and abstract modernist art that he is known for.

The first season, which saw Geoffrey Rush take on the character of Einstein, was nominated for 10 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Lead Actor and Outstanding Limited Series. This second season will see Hollywood legend Antonio Banderas take on the role of Picasso, with a supporting cast that includes Alex Rich, Clémence Poésy, and Poppy Delevingne.

Genius: Picasso premieres in the UK on Monday 23 April at 8pm on National Geographic.
