More details of NBC’s new streaming service have been announced, not least its name – Peacock, after the channel’s logo.
NBC Entertainment Co-Chair Paul Telegdy has also joined the ranks of media execs inspired by the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, raising the possibility of a shared continuity connecting the channel’s comedy shows, with attendant crossovers. This would hardly be a first for the network, of course, as witness the nineties Friends/Mad About You crossover deriving from Lisa Kudrow having parts in both shows.
Additionally, Bill McGoldrick, president of scripted at NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment and president of unscripted at NBCU channels USA Network and Syfy, has had his role expanded to include oversight of scripted for Peacock, which is planned to debut next year.
