PBS America, the UK branch of America’s Public Broadcasting Service, is set to explore new horizons with new UK premiere content this July.
The adventure begins with the UK premiere of Yosemite (Monday 9 July at 9pm), a filmic journey through America’s most famous National Park. The hour-long programme explores the park through the water that carved out its valleys, following scientists and adventurers as they explore the past, present and future of the Sierra’s most precious resource.
The journey continues into the heart of Everglades National Park with Exotic Invaders: Pythons in the Everglades (Tuesday 17 July at 9pm), before heading to South America for Into the Amazon (Wednesday 18 July and Thursday 19 July at 9pm).
Exotic Invaders: Pythons in the Everglades follows a group of python hunters on a mission to track down the killer snakes threatening Florida’s fragile ecosystem.
Into the Amazon tells the story of a journey taken by US President Theodore Roosevelt and legendary Brazilian explorer Candido Rondon along an unexplored tributary of the Amazon in 1913. Over eight weeks, their ill- equipped team navigated the river, and by the time the journey was over one member of the expedition had drowned, another had committed murder, and a badly-injured President Roosevelt had been left behind by his team to die.
PBS America is available on Freeview 94, Freesat 155, Virgin Media 276 and Sky 160.
