Friday, July 1st, 2022

PBS: UK PREMIERE Friday 15 July at 6.45pm

What happens when the world hits pause? Nature reboots! From the Canadian wilderness to urban America and the backyards of Britain, scientists reveal unexpected and astounding discoveries from the year of the pandemic. This ambitious and provocative film explores the lockdown’s silver lining – many species benefit immediately when humanity slows down.

Christine Nielsen’s absorbing film examines a positive legacy of lockdown, showing how, during that extraordinary period in modern history, many of our fellow species stood to benefit from the sudden and prolonged slowdown in human activity.

In all kinds of ways, the natural world was soon demonstrating its remarkable ability to rebound. Focusing on environments ranging from the Canadian wilderness to urban America and Britain’s back gardens, scientists share all manner of surprising discoveries, each a consequence of our planet’s recent respite from the hustle and bustle of twenty-first-century civilisation.
