They may see themselves as freedom fighters, defending America from a tyrannical and profoundly corrupt administration, but these violent, far-right groups are tied to antigovernment, white supremacist ideologies
and criminality.


Documentary American Insurrection (PBS, premiere 9 July 8.35pm) probes the groups and leaders responsible for the recent threats and violence, exploring how the far-right were emboldened and encouraged by former President Trump, and how individuals were radicalised and brought into the political landscape.

From the deadly Charlottesville rally in 2017, to a neo-Nazi group that has actively recruited inside the American military, to the assault on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, discover the disturbing truth about America’s far-right – and what the fears and concerns are going forward.
