    When a U.S. senator is murdered in a way that recalls the work of an elusive Russian assassin designated ‘Cassius’, veteran CIA agent Paul Shepherdson is brought out of retirement to handle the case. Having spent much of his career pursuing the prolific killer, Shepherdson is partnered with young, college-educated FBI rookie Ben Geary. But Geary gradually comes to suspect that Shepherdson is in fact Cassius, and has been following a personal mission of his own.
