In Australian Wilderness With Ray Mears (weeknights from Monday 11th at 7pm on PBS), the naturalist and bushcraft guru embarks on an epic journey down under. Crossing Australia and exploring its incredible landscapes, he finds out how its wildlife and human population have adapted to the challenges posed by some of the earth’s last great wilderness regions.
Trekking over mountain and desert, rainforest and ocean, Ray encounters many weird and wonderful animals, among them formidable birds of prey, giant sharks, dolphins, dangerous crocodiles and flying fox-bats. plus, of course, kangaroos aplenty – not to mention the world’s largest oyster. Ray’s travels also bring him into contact with local tribespeople, who pass on some of their hard-earned wisdom when it comes to surviving in this spectacular but unforgiving environment.
