Widower Graham Hess, a former minister who has lost his faith after the death of his wife in a car crash, now works a farm with his brother Merrill and two young children in rural Pennsylvania. Mysterious crop circles have been appearing in his cornfield and around the world, and Graham sees what appears to be a humanoid alien. As the family prepares the farmhouse to withstand a siege, other strange domestic happenings begin to make sense.
