When Patsy Cline Was Crazy

PBS America: Friday 7 November at 8.45pm

Singer Patsy Cline arrived in the 1950s at a pivotal moment in the evolution of American culture. With Decca Records producer Owen Bradley, she synthesised country, pop and rock in a new way to create the Nashville Sound.

This documentary examines Cline’s roots in both personal and cultural terms to illuminate her enduring impact. It shows how she bucked convention with her fashion sense, support of fellow female artists and ambition to get opportunities equal to those of her male peers.

With exclusive access to the Cline estate, the film features rare performances of such classics as I Fall to Pieces and Crazy, archival interviews with Cline’s contemporaries and new interviews with artists who have been influenced by her.
