Ken Russell directs this classic adaptation of D.H. Lawrence’s novel starring Alan Bates, Oliver Reed, Jennie Linden and Glenda Jackson. ​​​

Set in the Midlands mining town of Beldoverin the 1920s, the film follows the relationships between sisters Ursula and Gudrun Brangwen (Linden and Jackson) and their husbands Gerald Crich (Reed) and Rupert Birkin (Bates).​​​

Following their courtship, the quartet spend time together discussing the meaning of life and love, but when they holiday together in the Alps the complex and fiery relationship between Gerald and Gudrun begins to boil over with devastating implications for all involved.
